Jefferson County Jail Roster Overview
The official county custody search is the Jefferson Co Inmate Inquiry, linked from the county's Jail Inmate Search page. The county page says the jail roster lists all persons in custody at the Jefferson County Jail. During inspection on July 2, 2026, the roster was free, public, and did not require a login.
The roster is run through Tyler/NewWorld and covers the Jefferson County Jail in Port Hadlock. It is not a Washington DOC prison locator, not a federal inmate locator, and not an ICE detainee locator. If a Jefferson County arrest led to a prison sentence or transfer, the local roster may no longer show the person as housed at the jail. The jail information line, records request process, VINELink, and state or federal locators are the fallback chain.

Use the Jefferson County Roster
A roster search can be as simple as a name search, but the Jefferson County form also supports subject number, booking number, custody status, booking dates, and housing facility. The page has Search and Clear buttons. Its own instruction says a full roster view starts by clearing the form, then searching.
- Open the Jefferson Co Inmate Inquiry from the county jail inmate search page.
- Enter a name, subject number, or booking number if that detail is known.
- Check In Custody when the goal is currently jailed people only.
- Adjust Booking From Date and Booking To Date if the default range is too narrow.
- Use the housing dropdown to narrow to JEFFERSON COUNTY JAIL or entries marked TEMPORARILY OUT OF CUSTODY.
- Open the linked name to read the booking detail page.
Misspellings and old date ranges are common causes of missed results. If no row appears, clear the form and search again, then try a broader date range or call the jail at 360-385-3831 ext. 2.
Jefferson County Inmate Search Fields
The roster search fields are useful because they show how the county system sorts the jail population. Name is the plain-language field. Subject number and booking number are stronger when a court notice, jail call, or bond paper already gives one. Booking dates can limit what appears in the results table.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Text | Not stated | Searches by name; wildcard rules were not posted. |
| Subject Number | Text | Not stated | Numeric identifier; sample result showed values such as 26394 and 26396. |
| Booking Number | Text | Not stated | Sample format was 2026-00000496. |
| In Custody | Checkbox | Optional | Title text says currently jailed only. |
| Booking From Date | Date/text | Optional | Default inspected July 2, 2026 was 07/01/2026. |
| Booking To Date | Date/text | Optional | Default inspected July 2, 2026 was 07/02/2026. |
| Housing Facility | Dropdown | Optional | Blank, JEFFERSON COUNTY JAIL, TEMPORARILY OUT OF CUSTODY. |
Jefferson County Inmate Profile Fields
An inmate detail page is more detailed than the search results table. The list page showed name, subject number, scheduled release date, and gender. The inspected detail page added demographic information, booking history, bonds, charge rows, docket data, arresting agency, and court-related fields. It did not show a mugshot, date of birth, race, height, weight, cell block, attorney, judge, next court date, or probable-cause narrative.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name and Subject Number | Person name in roster format and the numeric identifier. |
| Age and Gender | Basic demographic fields visible in the inspected sample. |
| Booking Number and Date | Booking identifier and intake date/time. |
| Housing Facility | Public facility value, such as JEFFERSON COUNTY JAIL. |
| Total Bond and Bail | Dollar totals shown by the booking profile when available. |
| Bond Rows | Bond number, bond type, bond amount, and charge cross-reference. |
| Charges | Charge number, description, offense date, docket number, disposition fields, and arresting agency. |
Roster charges are booking records. Filed charges can change after the prosecutor reviews the case, so use court channels for final charge status.
Jefferson County Jail Contact Card
The primary facility for Jefferson County inmate records is the Jefferson County Jail, also called the Jefferson County Corrections Facility. The Sheriff's Office administration address is next door, so the jail and sheriff addresses should not be merged carelessly.

Booking Records in Jefferson County
A Jefferson County booking starts when law enforcement brings the person to the Port Hadlock jail. Staff open a booking record, enter identity details, secure property, conduct search and screening steps, and add charges, arresting agency, docket number, bond or bail information, and housing facility when those fields are available. The public roster is a custody view, not a full court file.
The District Court calendar gives a local timing clue. If a defendant is in custody in Jefferson County, the court page says that person will appear on the 1:15 p.m. calendar that day, and it directs users to check the jail roster for status. Court information, first-appearance outcomes, and filed charges should be checked through District Court, Superior Court, Washington Courts, or re:SearchWA as the case moves.
- Intake
- The jail entry process after arrest.
- Arraignment
- A hearing where charges and plea scheduling begin.
- No bail
- A hold that cannot be cleared by paying money on that booking entry.
- Scheduled release date
- A planned release date when the roster displays one; blank means none was shown.
Jefferson County Jail Visits
Jefferson County publishes a Sunday in-person visiting schedule and specific entry rules. Visitors need picture ID, must arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled visit, and receive 30 minutes for a visit. Minors may visit only with a parent or legal guardian. Active warrants or no-contact orders with the inmate disqualify a visitor. Dress rules bar tank tops, short-shorts, and short revealing clothing.
| Visitor Group | Day | Time | Rules |
|---|---|---|---|
| Female inmates | Sunday | 2 p.m.-3 p.m. | Picture ID, early arrival, 30-minute visit. |
| Male inmates | Sunday | 3 p.m.-4 p.m. | Picture ID, early arrival, 30-minute visit. |
| Video and email | Vendor service | Confirm with jail | County communications page identifies Visitel. |

Contact and Commissary After Lookup
After a Jefferson County inmate record confirms custody, the communications page gives the service channels. The jail offers outgoing phone access in virtually every cell block. Calls are collect or prepaid. Inmates cannot receive incoming calls. Phone blocking issues use 360-385-3831 ext. 746, and a block removal requires photo ID plus a recent phone bill showing ownership of the number.
Bond and release information on the roster should be checked against the county bail page before money is posted. Jefferson County accepts bail and bail bonds at the jail lobby 24 hours a day, cash bail must cover the full amount for each charge or warrant, and a cash-only $60 warrant fee can apply per warrant. The county warns that release after bail may take 2 to 6 hours.
| Service | Provider or Rule | Research Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Phone and chirping | InmateSales | Chirping/text may be available after first court appearance. |
| Video visiting and email | Visitel | Used for video and email services listed by the county. |
| Commissary deposits | SmartDeposit or lobby kiosk | County communications page identifies deposit channels. |
| County jail rules | Follow current jail mail instructions before sending items. |
Note: Confirm custody on the roster or with the jail before sending money, scheduling visits, or relying on a release date.
Jefferson County Custody Fallbacks
The roster is the first channel, but it is not the whole chain. For custody questions, call the jail at 360-385-3831 ext. 2. For records not visible on the roster, use the Jefferson County Public Records Officer and choose the sheriff public-records path when available. For custody alerts, register with Washington VINELink through the county victim-notification page or vinelink.com with Washington selected.
State, federal, and immigration searches are separate. The WA DOC incarcerated search accepts DOC number, first name, and last name, and its results show DOC number, name, age, and location. BOP covers federal sentenced inmates from 1982 forward. ICE ODLS is for immigration custody and is searched by A-Number and country of birth or biographical information.
Formal Jefferson County public-records requests can be sent through the county portal, PDF form, email, fax, mail, or in person. The research names Public Records Officer/Public Records Administrator Ken Hugoniot at 1820 Jefferson Street, P.O. Box 1220, Port Townsend, WA 98368, phone 360-385-9174, fax 360-385-9195, and email publicrecords@co.jefferson.wa.us. For booking records, use the sheriff-specific request type when the portal presents that option.
No Jefferson County sheriff mobile app with a jail roster, warrant search, or most-wanted feature was found in the official pages or app-store searches described in the research. That matters because similarly named sheriff apps exist for other Jefferson Counties in other states. For this Washington county, rely on the web roster, jail phone line, records process, VINELink, and the state or federal locators.
